![]() ![]() "Yeah, I would like to make another one." There you go. "Would I like to make another one?" McGregor asked EW. But we have to really spend our time asking the question: Why would we do it? If we were to decide to do anything more with the Obi-Wan character, we’d have to really answer the question why?"īefore you ask, McGregor sounds like he's in for another ride, too. So certainly from that point of view, everybody involved would love to see this not end. " Mainly because everybody came together and had such an incredible time. “It’s certainly something we talk about," Kennedy told Entertainment Weekly. Sounds pretty Season Two-y, doesn't it? Well, if you ask LucasFilm boss Kathleen Kennedy, more episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are certainly a possibility. When Kenobi wonders aloud why his old master waited until this very moment to say hello, Qui-Gon says, “I was always here, Obi-Wan. And who is there to greet him? The Force ghost of Liam Neeson's Qui-Gon Jinn, of course. We see Old Man Kenobi pack up his cave apartment and trek into the valleys of Tatooine. But after seeing the words "limited series" over and over again in Obi-Wan Kenobi's marketing materials, Wednesday's season finale arrived as a bit of a surprise. Whether or not Obi-Wan Kenobi lived up to the hype is up for you to decide. When we learned that Ewan McGregor would reprise his role as Kenobi, LucasFilm and Disney made it very, very clear that the show would be a six-episode event, with a production value on the level of a Star Wars cinematic offering. In theory, you could just have them act out some of Clone Wars’ best arcs in live action, moving further back in time, I suppose. But I also know there are many Star Wars fans who really just want to see McGregor and Christensen doing anything together as Ben and Anakin. I’m not sure if “actors want to keep acting as characters” is always enough to keep making more of a series that is already kind of struggling to justify its current existence. But how could they end it to set up another adventure for Ben later? It seems that wasn’t really a consideration when writing, so it would have to be something totally new to take him out of hiding. Now Luke appears to be in some danger, as Reva has learned about his existence, but again, we know how this ends. It does seem pretty clear that this Leia kidnap saga will resolve itself next week, as we know that she has to be safely returned to Alderaan and we also know that neither Reva or Darth Vader catch up and kill Obi-Wan and he returns to Tatooine. It’s a little hard to imagine that playing out in live action, but who knows. Of course, there are already other canon stories the remaining ten years between this show and A New Hope, namely the ones that were seen in Star Wars Rebels, which had Obi-Wan re-killing Darth Maul, after he returns. But Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 does seem like it would be the most straightforward. This also joins talk about spin-offs out of Obi-Wan like a Reva series, and Hayden Christensen has talked about the potential of a Darth Vader-focused series where he’d be the man in the suit/bacta tank. That’s the same refrain from everyone, that even if this was supposed to be the end, there are surely more stories to tell.
